My take on
LivePortrait (KwaiVGI/LivePortrait) after trying it on a Linux box with no GPU:
- β
It worked on CPU: the portrait smiles and glances sideways, copying the driving clip.
- π’ Slow without a GPU: about 6.7 minutes for a 3-second clip (400 s), and another 6.9 minutes lost on my first try.
- β οΈ Gotcha: on CPU you must add
--no-flag-use-half-precision, or the face comes out black.
- βοΈ License catch: the code is MIT, but the InsightFace face-detection models it uses are non-commercial research only. To use it commercially you have to swap those models out.
"It brought a painting to life on a plain CPU. Just don't monetize it until you replace the InsightFace models."
